Another Bullinger Masterpiece: E. W. Bullinger, the chief editor and contributor of the Companion Bible, also wrote this comprehensive work documenting how it was God Himself Who named the stars and irrevocably placed His Word in the starry heavens. Not to be confused with astrology, which is prohibited in the Bible, “The Witness of the Stars” is astronomy in its purest and original form. Bullinger builds upon ancient astronomical sources as well as scientific data to prove the constellations of the zodiac bare silent and ever present witness to the accuracy of Biblical prophecies from the promise of a Messiah to Eve in the garden of Eden right up to the end of the millennium and the final judgement of the earth’s inhabitants. Most of today’s Christians and their pastors have never heard this incredible story and would stand in awe if they knew of the true handiwork of God’s Word written in the stars. Bible students using the Companion Bible will find Appendix 12, “The Stars Also”, an excellent introduction to this fascinating subject. The serious Bible student will uncover the true meaning of Psalms 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handy work”.

Rightly Dividing The Heavens: Just as it is important to rightly divide God’s Written Word, the same is true if one is to clearly understand God’s Word placed in the heavens. Bullinger does this following God’s natural 12 divisions as found in the constellations of the zodiac (from the Greek, meaning “to live in a path or the way”). For almost 2,500 years, from Adam until Moses, the world existed without a written revelation from God. But, the world was not without a witness to His Word as it was clearly written in the heavens and well known to early man. Bullinger documents how the basic constellations have changed little since the earliest recorded history. The original names of the constellations and stars are found to be in languages closely associated with Hebrew and have been preserved through the millennia. These stars were named hundreds, if not thousands, of years before Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Yet, the very names of the stars, once correctly translated, foretell of His virgin birth and trace His story from prophecy to the very end of time. There are hundreds of such example star names that when associated with their related constellations provide the reader with an astonishing revelation of God’s ability to prophecy the ending from the very beginning. The book begins with the Constellation Virgo (the virgin mother of the desired one) and ends with the Constellation Leo (the lion of Judah, the consummated triumph of Christ our saviour). All along the way, Bullinger constantly documents the direct relationship of Scripture to the constellation and star names and their stories. Hundreds of such examples are provided and many formerly difficult to understand Scripture references are suddenly made crystal clear.

Informative, Easy to Understand Illustrations: Most of today’s Christians are not familiar with the constellations, their stars or the seasonal times of their appearance. Recognizing this problem, Bullinger has provided many supporting graphics to aid the reader in quick understanding of the narrative text. Forty illustrations, five engravings and a large pullout Planisphere Chart are included reflecting the level of accuracy and attention to detail for which E. W. Bullinger is so well known.
